Firesprite reveals sci-fi stealth horror, ‘The Persistence’ exclusively for PlayStation 4 and PSVR
Liverpool-based studio, Firesprite is proud to announce a brand new first person stealth horror title, ‘The Persistence’, exclusively coming to Sony PlayStation 4 and PSVR.
Set on board a deep space scientific vessel called The Persistence in the year 2521, the ship arrives at the site of a collapsing star 17,000 light years from Earth. While conducting a major experiment, a horrific incident occurs mutating many of the crew. As The Persistence is pulled into the gravity of the collapsing star, the ship’s computer, ‘IRIS’, wakes remaining members of the crew from cryogenic sleep – one at a time. Can you stay alive long enough to get to the engine room and save The Persistence?
The Persistence is procedurally generated. Every time you die and a new character is awoken by IRIS, the game will play out differently, with different enemies to face and loot to collect. You need to scavenge as much as you can. When you die the only thing that remains is what you have collected on your previous life, and you can use this to come back stronger.
“Stealth Horror is a perfect match for VR. Not only for the sense of presence that virtual reality brings, but also for the natural control head tracking offers. Sneaking around and hiding behind cover; it’s second nature in VR to just lean round or peek over cover to gain the advantage,” Commented Lead Designer, Alex Moore.
The game will feature a companion app which allows your friends to hack into The Persistence's engineering computer. Once inside the system, up to 4 connected tablets have control over many areas of the game, from the ability to control doors, distract enemies, disable traps, and even to find hidden items for the VR player to scavenge. But be aware though, sometimes the tablet players gets rewarded if you die, will you trust your friends?

Firesprite appears to have a hidden gem in the works that will fulfil our VR desires, while scaring us silly. We're incredibly excited to see what's in store for The Persistence. Stay tuned at Skye Matrix for exciting new content about the game, as well as an interview with one of the creators!

We’re telling completely new stories, creating new characters, new planets, new species and introducing new gameplay systems”. Flynn also went on to describe how BioWare’s developers took home an early “holiday build” of the game to play during the Christmas break, which returned plenty of positive feedback.

In a segment on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon the President of Nintendo of America, Regie Fils-Aime gave a surprise gameplay debut of the upcoming Nintendo Switch console featuring The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the first time on the new machine.
Fils-Aime demonstrated the draw distance of the game, reiterating the previously announced feature that “anywhere in the world that you can see, you can go.” After showcasing interactions with the world by pushing a large boulder onto some enemies, Fils-aime gave the controller to an eager Jimmy Fallon in the form of the tablet portion of the console. While doing this, he highlighted the seamlessness of switching from a TV display to the tablet, which happened instantly at the press of a button.
The short gameplay demonstration offered no new features or information about the game, and it is hard to notice any performance or graphical advantages to the title running on the Switch due to the way it was filmed.
Regie Fils-Aime also noted that more information regarding the Switch’s features and launch lineup would be in a special live stream on January 12.
You can view the video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TJ7IUNWGl4 (skip to around 4:55 for the Switch portion to begin).
Square-Enix has released on final demo for Final Fantasy XV titled the Judgement Disk and you can play this third and final Japanese only demo, even if you don't reside in the land of the rising sun all you have to do is follow these pretty simple steps if you're willing to try out this demo before the game's actual release on November 29th, 2016.
For Xbox One owners here is what you do...
Once an Xbox One owner has logged into their console with their Gamertag, that person must go to the settings menu, select System, and then Language and Location. From there, the Xbox One gamer can select their new region, once done, the Xbox One gamer must reset their console and they will be able to access the store in their selected region.
For PS4 owners it is a little more difficult but not by much. Here's what you do…
create an entirely new account. A PlayStation 4 gamer can do this either via their PS4 or through the official website of Sony PlayStation. From that point, the PS4 owner will then fill in their details and put up a valid address. The PlayStation can enter any address, as long as the location is in Japan, which means a PS4 owner can put in any Japanese Postal code to access the Japanese Playstation Store.
And that is all you have to do to experience this new slice of Final Fantasy XV before the game is out. As someone who is a big Final Fantasy fan I will be doing that, in fact, I already downloaded the demo and why it isn't coming to anyone outside of Japan is slightly upsetting….only slightly.
Nintendo has announced that come Black Friday November 25th introducing a limited edition of the 3DS for $99.99. You may be thinking the “WOW THATS A GREAT DEAL!” but hold onto your hat, good sir. The USA never saw the release of the New 3DS, only the New 3DS XL. The 3DS that you will be getting for $99.99 is the smaller brother of the 3DS XL, hence the low price. It’s nice to see that we finally got a budget offering.
Something else to note is that this $99.99 price should have a giant asterisk next to it for people that do not already own a 3DS. This unit, unlike many other deals, does not come with any pack in games. It does not include a charger either. So that $99.99 quickly becomes $159.99+ with the addition of a game and charger.
On the bright side, these new systems look pretty dope, and if you’re on the fence about upgrading your current Old 3DS, you should be able to do so relatively cheaply if you trade your old one in.
Capcom has gone on record saying they aren't sure if they will be bringing over ports of their popular PS4 and XBOX One titles to the Nintendo Switch. Which has a lot of people wondering if this is because the system is underpowered or not? A spokesperson at Capcom had this to say regarding the subject…
"We are currently carrying out research with regards to multiplatform implementation of software for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One onto the Nintendo Switch," a Capcom spokesperson said in an investor Q&A. "However, we do feel that there are differences in the desired direction and the play-style of the Nintendo Switch and those of the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One."
Now what could be the difference that they are referring to? Considering the only thing that makes Switch different from its competition is the fact that you can take your system on the go it leaves a lot of us to think that the difference is indeed in the Switch's processing power. Now Nintendo is known for hardware that is less powerful and if this is indeed the case we may be seeing a Wii U situation all over again.
With no new news coming regarding the Switch this year this news leaves me saddened to think that Capcom may be sending the early message that this is Wii U all over again. We won't really know how this will play out but right now doesn't look so good. We at Skyematrixgaming will keep you posted as more news develops on Switch and which third party ports and games we can expect.
After what has felt like months of speculation and hunting Sombra the hacker has finally been revealed by Blizzard at the 2016 Blizzcon event. Sombra the offensive character will get to be tested on the Public Test Region (PTR) sometime this week for PC players, with the official release of her coming when she is ready according to Blizzard. If you ask me I would expect PC players to get her sometime this week with everyone else getting to try her within a few days.
Sombra will be the first hacker character who has moves that can disable other enemies attacks making her a very unique and tricky character to use. The list of Sombra's moves are
MACHINE PISTOL : Sombra’s fully-automatic machine pistol fires in a short-range spread. - Compared to Soldier 76 in terms of firing power.
HACK : Sombra hacks enemies to temporarily stop them from using their abilities, or hacks first aid kits to make them useless to her opponents.
THERMOPTIC CAMO : Sombra becomes invisible for a short period of time, during which her speed is boosted considerably. Attacking, using offensive abilities, or taking damage disables her camouflage.
TRANSLOCATOR : Sombra tosses out a translocator beacon. She can instantly return to the beacon’s location while it is active (including when it’s in mid-flight).
EMP : Sombra discharges electromagnetic energy in a wide radius, destroying enemy barriers and shields and hacking all opponents caught in the blast.
Alongside this Sombra reveal Blizzard also released their next short in the Overwatch series revolving around the titular villain of the Talon Organization which you can check out below….
